According to the Bangkok Post, relatives described the 14-year-old suspect in Friday’s sh**ting at Debsirin Nonthaburi School as quiet and well-behaved, someone who spent most of his time playing computer games. Investigators reviewing his computer found he’d watched five video clips of foreign school shootings in the roughly week leading up to the attack, since July 30, though police stressed they haven’t yet confirmed any direct link between the videos and his actions.

Provincial Police Region 1 commissioner Pol Lt Gen Wattana Yeejeen said forensic teams are still analyzing the teen’s digital devices, including evidence that he played violent video games alongside other online activity investigators hope will help explain the attack.

The case took a darker turn when police searching the suspect’s home in Bang Bua Thong found his grandparents dead — 73-year-old Somjit Yimruang and his 74-year-old wife. Authorities believe the teen shot both before heading to school, locking the front gate behind him to delay discovery of the bodies. Somjit was found in the kitchen, shot in the back; his wife was found upstairs, apparently killed in her sleep. The quiet, sparsely populated neighborhood meant neighbors didn’t report hearing gunfire.

The 9mm handgun used was legally registered to the grandfather, who reportedly kept it locked away and never permitted family members to handle firearms. Family members said they don’t know how the teen found the key. He allegedly took two of three ammunition boxes stored with the gun — roughly 98 rounds in total, after dropping two at the scene.

Relatives painted a picture of a boy who had lived with his grandparents since his parents separated, describing him as a decent student with no visible signs of distress, conflict, or behavioral issues. His grandfather, a former bank manager, reportedly walked him to and from school daily. Family members said he had no close friends, rarely left the house, and spent most of his free time on computer games — polite and well-behaved enough, one relative said, that “no one could have imagined such a tragedy.”
