Messages from My Heart by Maja

I paint visions. I paint my inner Universe. I paint messages from my heart. I paint energies. I use the colors in my paintings to express emotions when I choose to do so without words. A painting says more than a thousand words – more than all the words found on this planet we call Mother Earth. What I find amazing is how differently people connect with my art when they see it for the first time. I love hearing about what the audience discovers in my paintings. It can be joy, love, sorrow, anger, and so much more.

For example, if I am working through my own anger or an inner conflict, I often choose to express it and work through it via colors on the canvas. It is within my painting that I find the solutions to what is going on in my body, mind, and soul. It feels like gaining the necessary distance from whatever is happening inside me – looking at it from afar. From this distance, I am able to reflect on the style and the expression I manage to create with the materials I use.

I often meditate before I paint, but painting in itself allows me to enter this state of openness – another world, another Universe. I call it My Magical Universe. In that Universe, everything is possible. I forget time and space. I simply become the color, the painting. I enjoy intuitive painting; I just paint exactly how I feel, without any expectation of what it will look like. There are always interesting elements to work with afterwards.

Most of all, I love painting portraits. I love painting to give the soul a voice and a space in portraits of different people. I often receive an image in my inner sight. Like visions. When that happens, I have to make sketches of them before they fade from my mind. Sometimes, I just need to paint immediately before I can relax and return to whatever else I was doing.

I love this process. I am in such close contact with my ground, my happiness, and my purpose in this life. I feel a deep, unconditional love, peace, and harmony. I am in my right element when I paint.

Besides painting, sculptures are also a way for me to express the messages of my heart. Poetry and music also belong to my writing about magical universes: The Magical Hills (De Magiske Høje) is my first book.
