Former Miami Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro were allegedly involved in a physical altercation in Las Vegas on Friday morning, with Adebayo striking Herro in the face, according to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania.
The confrontation took place at a practice court inside a Las Vegas hotel while both players were in town for NBA Summer League, where the Heat and Bucks were set to face off later that day. Sources told Charania that the fight began when Adebayo approached Herro about comments Herro had made on social media criticizing his former teammate, following the end of their seven-year run together in Miami.
The social media dig in question was a graphic Herro posted highlighting the NBA’s lowest field-goal percentages on midrange shot attempts — a list that included Adebayo. The post came after Herro was dealt to Milwaukee on July 6 as part of the blockbuster trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami, a deal that also included Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, Nate Ament, and multiple future draft picks.
Adebayo and Herro helped lead the Heat to two NBA Finals appearances during their time together, falling to the Lakers in 2020 and the Nuggets in 2023.
Neither side has said much publicly since the incident. The Heat issued a brief statement: “We are aware and not commenting.” Herro, speaking with reporters afterward, kept it short as well: “My only comment is no comment.”
With Herro now on Milwaukee and Antetokounmpo headed to Miami, the two franchises were already facing heightened attention this season. The altercation adds another layer of tension to a rivalry that’s only just beginning.
