Mall of Louisiana Shooting
10 Shot at Baton Rouge Mall; 2 Critical
A shooting erupted in the food court at the Mall of Louisiana Thursday around 1:22 p.m. after two groups got into an argument and opened fire on each other. At least 10 people were hit, including innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. Two are in critical condition; 6 were transported by EMS, others drove themselves to the hospital. Some victims are undergoing surgery.
Police Chief TJ Morse said the shooter remains at large but the public is not at risk, as this was not a random attack.
A 17-year-old was killed and 5 others injured in a shooting at the Mall of Louisiana on Thursday. Police Chief TJ Morse said two groups got into an argument near the food court and opened fire on each other. Three of the victims were seniors from Episcopal School of Lafayette. Five people are in custody, though the shooter remains at large. Morse described it as a targeted dispute rather than random violence, though some bystanders were caught in the crossfire.
