Breaking news: Falcons rookie James Pearce Jr.’s charges will reportedly be dropped if he completes a Florida diversion program — six months of therapy and staying out of trouble. The victim and police both signed off on the agreement.

According to his attorney, Rickea Jackson, law enforcement officers, and the state attorney’s office, all parties have agreed to the deal.

This type of outcome is often used in first-time, non-violent cases, where the goal is rehabilitation rather than punishment. If completed successfully, diversion programs typically allow the individual to avoid a formal conviction and have charges dismissed.
