Profile: Bob DeFoor

Bob DeFoor is a highly accomplished physician, educator, and researcher with a diverse and impressive career. He began his higher education at Georgia Institute of Technology in 1985, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and later studied at the University of Paris on a Fulbright Fellowship in the laboratory of chemistry and biochemistry. He continued his studies at the University of Kentucky, followed by Harvard University, where he earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Bob’s professional journey began as a cooperative education student at IBM, which sparked his lifelong dedication to science, medicine, and education. He has served as a professor at the University of Cincinnati for over 24 years, mentoring countless students, and currently works full-time as a physician at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. In recognition of his dedication to teaching, he was honored with the Educator of the Year award by the urology residents.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob is an active athlete who enjoys running and swimming and is a passionate Kentucky basketball fan. He also supports his family, including his child William who pursued music studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music before transferring to Cincinnati State Technical Community College.
