Things often present themselves in “3’s” or a “set”.
I was new to the surf world, I was taken down by an initial wave and it continued as they came in a set of three. I fought and exhausted myself as each wave would crash over me. There would be moments of relief in which I would get back up and continue fighting. I fought against nature and it almost won.
I nearly drowned, which triggered a memory from when I was 11, when I was close to not making it out of the water.
Going back to my surfing and close to drowning experience, I was given a great piece of advice that translates to life from a tenured surfer . To “ragdoll” it during these sets and challenges. Float freely and flow with the water and get up again when things have settled.
From these experiences I’ve learned that the more we resist the challenges that life throws our way, the more we resist our inevitable change and life path.
When life gets challenging- remember that it is temporary and fleeting. Resist fighting the things that are not meant for us, roll with the punches, the tides, ebbs and flow.
Focus on the future and not the past.
