Three decades after Malcolm X’s assassination, Louis Farrakhan and widow Betty Shabazz are set to reconcile at a May 6 fundraiser, with proceeds expected to raise around $200,000 for the Shabazz family. The meeting comes as Betty Shabazz’s daughter Qubilah faces trial for allegedly plotting Farrakhan’s assassination — widely seen as the driving force behind the reconciliation, despite Betty Shabazz having publicly blamed Farrakhan for her husband’s murder as recently as 1994.
